The Logistics Manager at Spiro will oversee end-to-end logistics operations in Kenya, with potential oversight for Uganda and Rwanda. The role ensures efficient movement of electric motorbikes, batteries, and parts from global suppliers to local assembly plants. The ideal candidate will manage international shipping, customs, warehousing, and transport while driving cost efficiency, compliance, and operational excellence to support Spiro's growing electric mobility network.

Key Responsibilities

Shipment Planning & Execution


Manage international ocean and air freight bookings with carriers and freight forwarders.
Coordinate supplier collections and ensure full compliance with incoterms and export regulations.
Plan and execute PVOC inspections with approved agencies (Bureau Veritas, Intertek, SGS) for Kenya and Uganda.
Oversee all shipment documentation, including Certificates of Conformity for customs clearance.
Track shipments using digital platforms (e.g., GoComet, Windward, SeaVantage) to ensure on-time delivery.
Use predictive logistics tools to monitor ETAs, port congestion, and transshipment risks.


Customs & Compliance


Supervise import and transit clearance processes for Kenya and Uganda.
Liaise with KRA, URA, and logistics partners to ensure timely and compliant clearance.
Manage bonded warehouse operations and documentation for both local and transit goods.


Warehouse & Inventory Management


Maintain accurate inventory using WMS tools.
Enforce FIFO, FEFO, and 5S principles for stock control and efficiency.
Coordinate plant dispatches to ensure timely supply of parts and materials.


Transportation & Distribution


Optimize delivery routes between ports, warehouses, and manufacturing plants.
Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective road transport across Kenya and Uganda.
Negotiate and manage service level agreements with logistics and transport partners.


Performance & Reporting


Track and analyze logistics KPIs (cost per shipment, on-time delivery, clearance cycle time).
Prepare structured performance reports and dashboards for management.
Identify and implement process improvements using data-driven insights.


Team & Vendor Management


Lead and mentor logistics, warehouse, and customs teams across markets.
Build strong partnerships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and regulators.
Oversee team training, performance evaluation, and safety compliance.


Qualifications & Experience


Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
7 - 10 years of experience in logistics management, ideally within the automotive or EV industry.
Proven experience with international shipping, bonded warehousing, and East African customs.
Strong knowledge of INCOTERMS, port operations (Mombasa/Dar es Salaam), and regional regulations.
Proficiency in WMS/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Odoo).
Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and negotiation skills.
Certification in APICS, CSCMP, or CILT is an added advantage.
Tech-savvy, with experience in digital logistics platforms and data analytics tools.
