Overview
The Maintenance Assistant supports the upkeep, safety, and functionality of facilities across all locations by assisting with preventive and corrective maintenance.
The role involves handling plumbing, electrical, generator, carpentry, and mechanical repairs, including servicing kitchen equipment such as Bain Marie units. It also includes responding to repair needs, ensuring safety compliance, assisting with spare parts procurement, and coordinating with technicians to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance across restaurant facilities, including dining areas, kitchen, restrooms, storage areas, and offices to ensure smooth operations.
Carry out hands-on repairs in plumbing, electrical systems, generators, carpentry, and general mechanical works within the restaurant environment.
Promptly address faults such as leaks, lighting failures, power issues, broken furniture, and kitchen equipment breakdowns.
Service and maintain kitchen equipment, including Bain Marie units and other commercial kitchen systems, to ensure continuous functionality.
Support installation, adjustment, and relocation of equipment, furniture, and fixtures during setup, renovations, or events.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
Respond quickly to maintenance requests to minimize operational downtime.
Monitor and manage maintenance tools, spare parts, and consumables, ensuring proper storage and availability.
Support procurement of mechanical and electrical parts and liaise with suppliers and vendors for maintenance needs.
Coordinate with external technicians during major repairs, servicing, or inspections.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment servicing.
Ensure safe handling and use of tools, ladders, electrical, and mechanical equipment in line with safety protocols.
Perform any other maintenance duties as assigned to support efficient restaurant operations.
Requirements
Candidates should possess an OND or HND in Facility Management, Engineering, or related field.
Certification in facility or safety management is an added advantage.
2 - 3 years' experience in facility or maintenance roles.
Experience in restaurant or hospitality environment is a plus.
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance
