KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan future functioning of the satellite laboratories including staffing requirements, workloads and resources. Coordinate the planning of operational and Capex budgets annually. Plan for the analysis of samples from the effluent water quality monitoring programmes. Manage the accreditation of the satellite laboratories to be maintained and extended.
Ensure provision of analytical service to Johannesburg Water department and City of Johannesburg's Departments. Monitor that there is optimum collaboration between the laboratories and ensure the proper distribution of work minimize the turn-around time. Prepare the annual budgets.
Compile monthly variance report. Attend bid committee meeting when required. Assist in the management and growth of organizations business. Keep abreast of legislation and latest developments in the analytical field and ensure the implementation of new techniques and methods. Address consumer complaints accordingly to procedure.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science Honors in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Microbiology or MTech Analytical Chemistry or Microbiology or Biotechnology or Water Care or Quality Management or Quality Management System (NQF 8)
Postgraduate qualification in Management (NQF 8)
Professional Registration as Scientist/Technologist
Minimum 7 years chemical or microbiological analysis experience laboratory preferably in water (& sanitation) analysis. Minimum of 3 years managerial or supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of water related legislation (e.g. Accreditation Act, National Water Act).
Working knowledge of ISO 17025 and Research & Development is an advantage.
