Basic job summary:
The jobholder is responsible for patient care and managing clinical teams as per the organizational structure.
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, patient-centre medical care to patients attending the university medical centre.
Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
Review and manage complex clinical cases and provide specialist guidance where required.
Ensure continuity of care through appropriate referrals, follow-up, and coordination with other healthcare providers.
Promote patient safety and adherence to evidence-based clinical practice
Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor the quality of clinical services and implement quality improvement initiatives.
Lead clinical audits and review patient outcomes to improve service delivery.
Non-clinical Responsibilities (administrative)
Lead and supervise the clinical team, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of healthcare services.
Allocate clinical duties and coordinate daily operations within the medical centre.
Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Provide clinical guidance and support to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Operational Responsibility:
Feedback to client, approve clinical procedures, recommend drugs, make and implement standard operating procedures for clinical processes
Foster teamwork, professionalism, and a culture of continuous improvement
Promote adherence to ethical and professional standards
Investigate and manage clinical incidents and patient complaints.
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in medicine from a recognized institution
Registered medical practitioner with the Kenya Medical Practitioners Board eligible for consultant status
Have an up-do-date personal indemnity cover and professional license.
Have an up-to-date BLS and ACLS Certification
Experience:
At least 6 years of Hospital experience.
At least 3 years of managerial experience.

Effective communication with other doctors as well as patients
Maintain concise, timely, and accurate confidential records of patients Able to prioritize patients according to their clinical needs
Good time management skills to balance clinical and other duties
Able to work under pressure
Ability to solve difficult problems Should be able to challenge decisions Strong decision making and practical skills
