Job Summary
The Automotive & Plant Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing all types of motor vehicles and plant machinery used within the factory. The role requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, preventive maintenance experience, and the ability to ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, electrical, and engine faults on vehicles and plant machines.
Carry out preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing on company vehicles and factory machinery.
Repair and maintain trucks, forklifts, loaders, generators, compressors, and other industrial equipment.
Inspect and replace worn-out parts such as brakes, bearings, filters, belts, hoses, and suspension systems.
Conduct engine overhauls, transmission repairs, and hydraulic system maintenance.
Perform welding and fabrication work where necessary.
Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working condition.
Respond quickly to machine breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety and maintenance procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must have completed High School education (KCSE certificate or equivalent).
Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in repairing vehicles and industrial/plant machinery.
Experience working in a manufacturing or factory environment is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and automotive diagnostics.
Ability to repair different types of vehicles and heavy plant equipment.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and under minimum supervision.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
