Job Summary


The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the reliability, availability, and safe operation of all mechanical equipment and systems in the power plant through effective routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
The role supports continuous plant operations by minimizing downtime, optimizing equipment lifecycle costs, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.


Key Responsibilities


Ensure mechanical systems availability, reliability and performance across plants
Support plant operational targets through timely and effective mechanical maintenance interventions.
Maintenance execution and troubleshooting.
Support initiatives to improve MTBF and reduce MTTR.
Conduct root cause analysis of recurring mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions.
Contribute to optimization of equipment lifecycle cost through effective maintenance practices.
Maintain accurate records of faults, repairs, and maintenance activities
Conduct routine inventory checks of mechanical spares to ensure availability and readiness.
Provide input into manpower, materials, and service contract requirements.
Ensure compliance to safety, statutory regulations and OEM recommendations.
Prepare maintenance reports and technical documentations as required by the Team Lead.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient plant operations.
Undertake any other assigned tasks.


Professional Qualifications & Experience


Bachelor's Degree or HND qualifications in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
3 - 5 years relevant work experience, in the power industry.
Professional certification - COREN is an added advantage.


Technical Competencies:


Strong technical knowledge of power plant mechanical systems and equipment.
Sound understanding of equipment operation, maintenance history, and failure modes.
Knowledge of standard operating procedures for mechanical maintenance.
Hands-on experience in inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of rotating equipment, pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, and diesel engines.
Ability to perform preventive and proactive maintenance using OEM drawings and design schematics with minimal supervision.
Competence in root cause analysis and technical troubleshooting.
Familiarity with modern maintenance management practices and spares inventory control.
Understanding of safety, environmental, and statutory requirements related to mechanical equipment.
Skills in maintenance planning, scheduling, and technical reporting.
