Job Summary
The Mechanical Maintenance Lead is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of all mechanical systems within the power plant through effective maintenance strategies, team leadership, and vendor management.
The role drives high equipment availability, compliance with QHSE standards, and continuous improvement in plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure mechanical systems reliability & availability by leading maintenance of all mechanical systems including Gas Turbines (GT), Balance of Plant (BOP), auxiliaries, etc
Optimize MTBF and MTTR through proactive and predictive maintenance practices
Oversee routine preventive & corrective maintenance planning and execution.
Review, approve, and implement maintenance designs, work scopes and method statements
Close all Trouble Memos within defined timelines
Manage third-party vendors and contractors in line with contractual obligations and technical standards
Develop and manage maintenance budget & ensure cost optimization.
Approve procurement requests for spares, tools, and maintenance services
Ensure compliance with QSHE policies, statutory regulations and OEM recommendations.
Responsible for team leadership & capability development - plan & optimize manpower, materials and contract resources as well as conduct performance reviews of team members
Ensure continuous improvement and periodic reporting
Undertake any other assigned tasks.
Technical Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of power plant mechanical systems (GT, BOP, pumps, valves, compressors, diesel engines).
Strong understanding of equipment operating principles and failure modes.
Expertise in modern maintenance practices (RCM, TPM, condition-based maintenance).
Root cause analysis and technical troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of spares and inventory management systems.
Familiarity with statutory regulations, codes, and standards governing mechanical equipment.
Ability to review engineering designs, method statements, and technical documentation.
Working knowledge of safety, environmental, and quality

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or HND. Post graduate degree is an added advantage.
Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role within the power industry.
Professional certification - COREN.
