Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization providing assistance to people affected by armed conflicts, epidemics, natural or non-natural disasters, or persons excluded from access to health care. The organization has health projects in more than 70 countries.
MSF France has had a significance presence in Kenya since 1996. Currently, MSF runs 2 projects in Kenya; one in Homa Bay County supporting the HBCTRH in the adult medical (in-patient and TB) wards to improve management of adults’ patients hospitalized and Chronic disease activity in 2 decentralized sites. In Mathare, MSF runs a 24hour SGBV clinic and an Emergency program in Mathare with a clinic in Dandora offering youth friendly services to those between the ages of 10 to 24 years. The Coordination office in Nairobi provides support to and coordinates all the MSF France projects in Kenya.
MSF France is looking to fill the position of Medical Coordinator Support based in Nairobi with frequent travel to the projects. The successful candidate reports to the Medical Coordinator.
The objective of the Position:
Supporting the Medical Coordinator through delegated tasks and responsibilities including administrative tasks related to the coordination of work, ensuring good relationships with local and national authorities and ensuring adequate program management in the projects, according to MSF protocols, (para)medical standards, rules of hygiene and the standard precautions in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients and their communities as well as to improve the health conditions of the targeted population.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: - Medical Doctor and/ or Clinical officer diploma
Experience: - Demonstrable working experience in related jobs.
Minimum of at least two years of working experience.
Training or experience in tropical medicine and/or public health is an asset
Emergency experience is an asset
Languages: Excellent command of English and Swahili
**Knowledge: -**Essential Computer Literacy (Word, Excel and Internet)
Competences: - Adherence to MSF principles, Results and detail-oriented, service, team player, committed and flexible
