Responsibilities
Install, calibrate, test, and safely commission new biomedical and medical equipment.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and rapid
emergency repairs on all clinical machinery and devices.
Train medical, nursing, and clinical staff on the safe and proper operation of critical medical instruments.
Ensure all healthcare equipment strictly complies with national safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and software issues on diagnostic and therapeutic systems.
Keep precise documentation and maintenance records of all equipment repairs, calibrations, and historical logs.
Monitor medical equipment inventory, track spare parts, and coordinate with external suppliers for specialized servicing.
Requirements
Diploma or Certificate in Medical Engineering from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
Active registration or licensing with the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya (AMEK).
Practical experience working in a hospital setup, diagnostic laboratory, or clinical environment.
Strong technical ability to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, and troubleshoot clinical instruments.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with medical specialists and healthcare staff.
Keen attention to detail, high safety awareness, and a strong problem-solving mindset.
Willingness to work on call, during emergency shifts, or over weekends as required.
