Job Description
St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to support the laboratory team in carrying out diagnostic tests and ensuring accurate laboratory results for effective patient care.
The successful candidate will assist in specimen collection, laboratory testing, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and quality standards within the laboratory unit.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, label, and process patient specimens appropriately.
Perform routine laboratory tests under supervision and according to standard operating procedures.
Assist in hematology, microbiology, parasitology, chemistry, and serology investigations.
Prepare reagents, stains, and laboratory materials for testing procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment.
Ensure proper handling and disposal of laboratory waste according to safety guidelines.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.
Record and document laboratory results accurately.
Adhere strictly to infection prevention, biosafety, and quality control standards.
Assist in inventory management and monitoring of laboratory supplies.
Collaborate effectively with laboratory scientists and other healthcare professionals.
Education & Professional Requirements
Diploma/Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or related fields
Valid professional certification/licensing where applicable.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year laboratory experience is an added advantage
Experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory setting is preferred
Required Skills & Competencies:
Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
Good understanding of infection prevention and biosafety practices
Attention to detail and accuracy
Good documentation and record-keeping skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Good communication and teamwork skills
Professional conduct and confidentiality

Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when necessary
