About the Migration Section

The Migration Section is responsible for receiving and verifying applications for visas, residence permits, and work permits, making decisions in visa cases, conducting interviews, handling inquiries via phone and email, and performing archiving and administrative tasks. The section currently handles applications from 24 countries within its regional mandate.

The Embassy is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and responsible Migration Assistant. The role requires the ability to work independently, take initiative, manage fluctuating workloads, and remain effective under pressure. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential, as the role involves close cooperation with all members of the Migration Section.

Main Responsibilities


Receive, register, and process applications for visas, residence permits, and work permits.
Conduct interviews with applicants for residence permit cases.
Respond to inquiries from applicants and stakeholders by telephone and email.
Perform filing, archiving, and general administrative tasks.
Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Head of Section.


Essential Qualifications and Experience


A university degree in a relevant field such as law, political science, international relations, or another related discipline.
At least two years of relevant work experience in areas such as legal services, fraud prevention, migration services (visas/residence permits), or other closely related fields. (Experience should be from within the last three years.)
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
Additional language skills, particularly French and/or African languages, will be an added advantage.


Desirable Experience


Previous experience working in migration-related roles at embassies, consulates, government authorities, or other institutions handling migration, legal, or regulatory matters.
