A position has arisen for a qualified Millwright. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and maintenance of all machinery and equipment within the department. The role requires a hands-on, proactive individual who can support production efficiency, minimize downtime, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct and coordinate all maintenance activities on machinery and equipment within the department
Develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for all machines in line with company requirements
Build, manage, and control an effective inventory of machine spares
Maintain accurate maintenance records in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards
Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and ensure swift resolution to minimize downtime
Order necessary equipment, spares, and tools required for factory operations
Attend operational and production meetings (e.g., DRM and Production Meetings) as required
Support production teams in achieving optimal machine efficiency and output
Identify, recommend, and implement technical improvements that are cost-effective and performance-driven
Ensure all machinery is properly serviced, maintained, and kept in safe working condition
Be available for after-hours and emergency callouts as required
Ensure machinery is operational and optimized for night shift production
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance and production environment
Participate in equipment installations, commissioning, and upgrades
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent
Trade tested Millwright (qualified)
Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience as a Millwright
At least 5 years' maintenance experience within a production environment
Experience in injection and compression moulding environments will be an advantage
Strong knowledge and experience in hydraulics and pneumatics
Proven ability to work with mechanical and electrical systems in industrial settings
