Job Requirement
Diploma in any of the following fields: Morgue Science, Mortuary Science, Morgue Training and Mortuary Science or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
Membership to Morticians and Allied Professionals Association of Kenya or a relevant professional body;
Certificate in computer applications; and
Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
Job Description
Collecting and receiving bodies from hospital wards and law enforcement agencies;
Registering and filing of death notifications;
Recording and documenting details of bodies;
Admitting bodies to the mortuary;
Preparing bodies for burial including embalming;
Carrying out stocktaking of bodies in the mortuary;
Updating the database of bodies in the mortuary;
Cleaning and dressing bodies;
Undertaking beautification of bodies including shaving, cosmetic/make-ups, and plaiting among others;
Cleaning of mortuary and equipment and instruments used in the mortuary;
Assisting relatives in the identification of unknown bodies;
Reconstructing bodies;
Ensuring security of human remains taking care not to lose any evidence from the bodies, pending post-mortem examination;
Assisting in the establishment of true identify of bodies through taking of fingerprints and forwarding them to relevant authorities;
Removing foreign implants in the body;
Facilitating the viewing of bodies by relatives on request; and
Releasing of human remains after post-mortem to authorized next of kin.
