Requirements for the job:
NQF 7 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or relevant field
5 years' relevant Health & Safety experience including in a laboratory environment
At least 3 years' experience in a leadership and managerial role.
Proven project management experience.
Advanced computer literacy, especially in MS-Office, including spreadsheets and database implementation.
Ability to work effectively under pressure independently and within a team.
Excellent English oral and written communication skills, including the ability to service high-level committees and meetings.
Advantages:

Health Sciences Qualification will be advantageous
Exposure within a Higher Education environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage Health and Safety systems at different levels
Hazardous substances Risk Management and Compliance
Hazardous substance regulatory and safety management
The incumbent will be required to work with students, academic staff, researchers, and scientific and technical staff.
Education and training of health and safety representatives, students and staff in health and safety requirements.
Liaison with stakeholders including service engineers, contractors, etc.
Oversight of laboratory compliance at various biosafety levels.
Any reasonable instruction as required by the line manager.
