Purpose of the Position
The Office Cook will be responsible for preparing meals as assigned within the FRAD Foundation office, maintaining the kitchen and food preparation areas, and ensuring that food is prepared safely, hygienically and on time.
The role will also support proper handling of food items, utensils, cooking equipment and related supplies.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare meals according to approved menus, quantities and schedules provided by the designated supervisor.
Ensure meals are prepared and ready at the required times.
Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and food safety during preparation, cooking and serving.
Keep the kitchen, food preparation surfaces, utensils and cooking equipment clean and orderly.
Properly wash, store and safeguard cooking utensils and kitchen equipment after use.
Receive food items and cooking supplies provided for meal preparation and use them responsibly.
Monitor available food items and promptly report shortages or replenishment needs to the designated supervisor.
Minimize food wastage and ensure economical use of ingredients, cooking gas, water and other supplies.
Store food items appropriately to reduce spoilage, contamination and loss.
Support routine cleaning and organization of the kitchen and designated food storage areas.
Immediately report damaged equipment, food safety concerns or other kitchen-related issues.
Follow approved office procedures, safeguarding requirements, health and safety standards, and instructions from the designated supervisor.

Perform other reasonable kitchen and office-support duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Basic education is desirable.
Previous experience as a cook in an office, institution, restaurant, catering service, household or
similar setting is preferred.
Practical knowledge of meal preparation and basic food hygiene.
Ability to prepare meals for groups and work according to a schedule.
Ability to maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Ability to communicate in Hausa or Kanuri is an advantage.
