Requirements :
A Matric/Grade 12 certificate or equivalent. Diploma/Degree in Nursing (R.425) or equivalent qualification that allows for registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse, plus a post basic qualification with the duration of at least 1 year in intensive care nursing science.
A minimum of 9 years appropriate recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council, in General Nursing. At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate in recognizable experience after obtaining a one year post basic qualification in intensive care nursing science.
Degree/Diploma in Nursing Administration/Nursing Service Management registered with South African Nursing Council. Competencies: Strong leadership skills, good communication skills, supervisory skills, problem solving skills, and report writing and presentation skills are necessary. The ability to work in a team and under pressure.
Duties :
Coordination of optimal, holistic specialized nursing care provided within set standards and a professional /legal framework. Effectively manage the utilization and supervision of Human, Financial and material resources. Coordination of the provision of effective training and research.
Provision of effective support to Nursing Services. Maintain Professional growth, ethical standards and self-development. Ensure effective communication with the multi-disciplinary teams. Knowledge and implementation of DOH policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Protocols.
Ensure Nursing norms and standards are upheld. Accurate collation and consolidation of statistics to ensure evidence -based nursing practice. Manage and resolve Patient Safety incidents and complaints timeously. Must have knowledge of Ideal Hospital Realisation Framework. Must be prepared to work night duty and act as an Assistant Manager when the need arises. Must have knowledge of PFMA and other Public Sector Regulations and Legislative Framework.
