Job Role
The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the automotive business, ensuring efficient coordination of sales, workshop/service operations, inventory, procurement, customer service and administration. The role will focus on improving operational efficiency, controlling costs, maintaining service quality and supporting achievement of the company's business objectives.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To provide effective leadership and coordination of the company's operations by ensuring that people, processes, inventory, customer service and resources are managed efficiently. The role is responsible for driving operational excellence, minimizing inefficiencies, supporting revenue growth and ensuring that customers receive quality and timely automotive products and services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the automotive business.
Develop and implement effective operational procedures and controls.
Coordinate activities between sales, workshop/service, stores, procurement and administration.
Monitor operational performance and identify areas requiring improvement.
Ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed.
Sales & Business Operations
Work closely with the sales team to support achievement of sales and revenue targets.
Monitor sales performance and provide regular updates to management.
Identify operational challenges affecting sales performance and customer conversion.
Support implementation of strategies aimed at improving business performance.
Monitor customer orders, product/vehicle availability and delivery timelines.
Workshop & Service Coordination
Oversee the coordination of workshop and service activities.
Ensure vehicles are properly received, assessed, serviced/repaired and released within agreed timelines.
Monitor service quality and customer satisfaction.
Coordinate with technicians and service personnel to resolve operational challenges.
Ensure proper documentation of inspections, repairs and service activities.
Inventory & Stock Management
Oversee the management of vehicles, spare parts, accessories and other automotive stock.
Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely replenishment.
Ensure proper recording and storage of inventory.
Conduct regular stock checks and reconciliations.
Minimize stock losses, damages, overstocking and stock-outs.
Procurement & Supplier Management
Coordinate procurement of automotive parts, equipment and operational supplies.
Work with approved suppliers to ensure timely delivery and competitive pricing.
Monitor supplier performance and quality.
Maintain proper procurement records and documentation.
Financial & Cost Control
Monitor operational expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
Ensure operations are conducted within approved budgets.
Monitor wastage, losses and unnecessary expenditure.
Work with the finance team to support accurate operational financial reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Automotive Management, or a related field.
At least 4 - 6 years of relevant experience in operations management, preferably within the automotive industry.
Previous experience in automotive sales, dealership, workshop, spare parts or vehicle-related operations is an added advantage.
Proven experience supervising and coordinating teams.
Experience in inventory, procurement, budgeting and operational reporting.
Good understanding of automotive business operations and customer service.
