Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct Comprehensive eye tests
Check Visual acuity
Test for refractive errors
Prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses
Screen for conditions like Glaucoma, cataract and diabetic Retinopathy
Remove foreign bodies from the eye
Provide treatment for Lazy eye
Educate patients on poor eye care
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
Diploma in Optometry from a recognized institution
Registration Certificate issued by Medical Board of Kenya
Valid practicing license from the Medical Board of Kenya
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
