JOB SUMMARY
The Pathologist will provide high-quality pathology services, ensure accurate, timely and clinically relevant diagnostic results while supporting patient care, laboratory quality and clinical decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
Provide specialist interpretation, validation and reporting of laboratory investigations.
Oversee diagnostic services including hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunology and molecular diagnostics. Experience in Histo-cytopathology will be an added advantage.
Communicate critical and clinically significant results promptly to treating clinicians. Provide clinical consultation on appropriate investigations and interpretation of complex results.
Ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs, quality standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements of KENAS and SANAS.
Monitor quality control, turnaround times, critical results and laboratory performance indicators.
Monitor and supervise participation in external quality assurance programs.
Participate in laboratory audits, incident investigation and continuous quality improvement.
Support antimicrobial stewardship and patient safety initiatives.
Participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings, CME's and collaborate closely with other clinicians while providing training, mentorship and professional development for laboratory and clinical staff.
Contribute to service development, audits and evidence-based practice.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
MBChB or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
MMed or equivalent degree in General pathology/cinical pathology.
Registered with KMPDC and recognized as a specialist.
Valid current practicing license.
At least five years post-specialization experience in a hospital or accredited laboratory.
