Job Description
We are looking to hire an exceptional Payments Manager owns the full payments function across deposits, withdrawals, payment journeys, provider performance, KYC-linked operational issues, and payment-related customer friction. This is a central stabilisation and growth role responsible for building a faster, simpler, more trusted, and more conversion-friendly payment experience for NairaBet customers in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Ownership
Own the end-to-end payments function across deposits, withdrawals, reversals, payment exceptions, and payment-related customer journeys.
Map, understand, and improve each step of the deposit and withdrawal experience and act as the accountable owner for payment-related issues across the business.
Ensure payments are treated as both a core product journey and a commercial conversion lever, not just a back-office process.
Payment Journey Optimisation
Reduce friction across first deposit, repeat deposit, withdrawal request, failed-payment recovery, and KYC-linked interruption points.
Work with Product and UX to simplify payment flow, method selection, messaging, retry paths, failure communication, and withdrawal clarity.
Build a payment experience that is locally relevant for Nigerian users and competitive with the best operators in market.
Provider Acquisition & Partner Management
Identify, assess, onboard, and performance-manage stronger or additional payment providers where needed.
Build a clear view of current provider gaps, weaknesses, commercial issues, and technical constraints; manage partners against defined service and performance expectations.
Lead provider escalations and push for improved uptime, responsiveness, routing quality, speed, and commercial terms.
Operational Control, Risk & Reporting
Build incident tracking, escalation logic, and reporting across failed transactions, provider performance, withdrawal TAT, payment friction, and unresolved issues.
Coordinate with Finance, Product, Customer Support, Risk, and external providers to ensure issues are investigated, categorised, and pushed to closure.
Experience & Background
Minimum of 6 to 8 years working experience
Candidate must have explicit experience in the gaming/betting industry.
Experience in payments operations, payments product, fintech, wallets, banking rails, gaming, or another high-volume transactional digital business.
Confident working across PSPs, payment routing, customer friction, KYC-linked issues, fraud controls, and provider negotiations.
Strong understanding of Nigerian payment behaviour, local payment-method realities, and user expectations is highly valuable.
Owns the full payments outcome rather than one isolated part of the process.
