Job Purpose
The overall purpose of this job is to dispense prescription drugs to patients. They provide information about the drugs and help patients understand the instructions their specialist/consultant other health practitioners provided
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Deliver direct patient care and clinical practice, including decentralized and service-based programs by identifying high-risk patients and implements interventions to improve quality and safety
Identify prescriptions that might present risks to patients and to resolve relevant issues before dispensing
Provide pharmaceutical services throughout the hospital by maintaining proficiency by dispensing prescription drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners
Participate in pharmacy operations and medication dispensing by collaborating with the Procurement department in facilitating specialty medication procurement, ordering, and dispensing procedures
Coordinate medication deliveries in conjunction with pharmacy managers. Maintain an orderly workflow for all medication dispensing activities in the hospital by ensuring timely deliveries of all medications
Coordinate all inpatient, discharge patient/outpatients/satellite centers receive the correct medication in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with agreed internal standards, acceptable timelines and adhering to local regulations by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
Facilitate experiential education and practice advancement by identifying, designing and implements improvements in the medication-use system to advance patient safety, maximize therapeutic outcomes, or control costs
Promote patient awareness and understanding of their medication regimen by providing medication counseling to the patient to ensure accurate understanding of treatment purpose, duration, special instructions of use, and common adverse effects

Minimum Qualifications, Regulatory & Legal Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution
Must have valid membership and hold a valid practicing license in the Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
Minimum of 3 years working experience
