Job Description
The Planning Engineer (Civil) will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules to ensure civil construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and within approved timelines and budgets.
The role involves project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, resource planning, and reporting while coordinating closely with project managers, construction teams, engineers, and clients to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed project execution schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
Prepare Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project baselines, and project execution plans.
Develop short-term and long-term construction schedules for civil works.
Monitor project progress and compare actual performance against approved schedules.
Identify schedule deviations and recommend corrective and recovery actions.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management and clients.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, QA/QC, and HSE teams to ensure schedule integration.
Monitor project milestones and critical paths to minimize delays.
Conduct schedule risk analysis and recommend mitigation measures.
Assist in resource planning, manpower forecasting, and equipment utilization.
Participate in project review meetings and provide planning updates.
Evaluate the impact of change orders and variations on project schedules.
Maintain project planning documentation and historical records.
Support project close-out activities and preparation of final project reports.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering.
COREN registration is an added advantage.
Membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) is desirable.
Professional certification in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Project Management Professional (PMP).
