Tsebo Facilities Solutions is looking for a Plumber to provide skilled plumbing maintenance and technical support through planned, preventative, reactive, and emergency maintenance activities on water supply, sanitary, drainage, and sewer systems. The role is responsible for diagnosing faults, repairing and replacing plumbing components, supporting statutory compliance and water-efficiency initiatives, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all plumbing work is completed safely and to applicable standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reactive Plumbing Maintenance
Respond to leaks, blocked drains, faulty sanitary fittings, and water-supply failures within agreed SLA requirements.
Diagnose root causes before initiating repairs.
Safely isolate affected systems where required.
Repair or replace authorised plumbing components using suitable materials and methods.
Conduct testing to ensure correct operation before reinstatement.
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
Perform scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
Inspect plumbing fixtures, drains, valves, pumps, pipework, and pressure-related components.
Identify developing defects and deterioration.
Recommend repairs or replacements to prevent failures.
Record inspection findings accurately.
Drainage and Sewer Systems
Clear blockages using approved equipment and procedures.
Investigate recurring drainage issues and identify root causes.
Escalate unresolved or recurring problems for specialist investigation.
Recommend corrective actions and long-term solutions.
Water Loss and Efficiency Management
Respond promptly to water leaks and minimise damage and water loss.
Support water-consumption analysis and investigations.
Identify abnormal water usage patterns.
Recommend water-efficiency improvements and replacement solutions.
Installations, Alterations and Work Quality
Complete minor plumbing installations and alterations within authorised scope.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Use correct materials, supports, fittings, and sealing methods.
Escalate major modifications requiring specialist approval.
Reinstate and clean work areas after completion.
Work Orders and Technical Administration
Complete work orders and job cards accurately.
Record fault descriptions, root causes, repairs performed, materials used, and follow-up actions.
Maintain technical records, photos, testing documentation, and certificates where required.
Support audit and maintenance reporting requirements.
Tools, Equipment and Contractor
Support Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
Report equipment defects promptly.
Manage materials responsibly and minimise waste.
Support and monitor specialist contractors where required.
Report workmanship or compliance concerns.
SHEQ and Safe Work Practices
Comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
Use appropriate PPE, isolations, permits, and safety controls.
Manage slip, water, hygiene, pressure, and confined-space risks.
Report hazards, incidents, non-conformances, and environmental events immediately.
Work only within approved competency levels and escalate specialist work appropriately.
After-Hours Support
Attend urgent after-hours plumbing and facility-related emergencies.
Respond effectively to site incidents and service interruptions.
Coordinate specialist support when necessary.
Follow client and site emergency procedures.
Skills and Competencies
Water supply, sanitary, drainage, and sewer system fault finding and repairs.
Plumbing fixtures and fittings including taps, valves, toilets, basins, traps, and pipework.
Leak detection and water-pressure troubleshooting.
Drain cleaning and root cause analysis of recurring blockages.
Reading technical drawings and specifications.
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) processes and work-order systems.
Testing, inspection, and maintenance documentation.
Qualifications
Grade 12 / Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
Recognised Plumbing Trade Test / Red Seal qualification strongly preferred and required where work falls within regulated trade activities.
PIRB registration advantageous where applicable.
Valid driver's licence where travel is required.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements, plumbing standards, building regulations, and safe isolation procedures.
Experience
Minimum 3 years' practical plumbing maintenance and installation experience.
Experience within commercial, industrial, refinery, or facilities management environments preferred.
