The Podcast Consultant will work closely with Samuel Hall's programme, technical, and communications teams and will be responsible for the end-to-end production of podcasts, from concept to publication.


Deliverable 1: Podcast Production


Produce a total of 15 podcasts over the contract period:
1 Podcast series with 7 podcast episodes for LLEARN, focusing on return, reintegration, urban displacement, local governance, and participatory processes;
4 podcast episodes for Karamoja Strong, focusing on climate vulnerability, conflict, resilience, social cohesion, and adaptive service delivery.
Lead all stages of podcast production, including:
Concept development and episode outlines;
Identification and coordination of speakers (community members, local authorities, CSOs, researchers, practitioners);
Interview recording (remote and/or in-person);
Editing, sound design, and final production;
Support for publication and dissemination (in coordination with the communications team).
Brand identity development and dissemination for the podcasts
Ensure podcasts are learning-oriented, accessible, and suitable for diverse audiences, including practitioners, policymakers, donors, and communities.
Apply ethical storytelling standards, including informed consent, safeguarding, and do-no-harm principles.


Deliverable 2: Audio-Visual and Knowledge Management Support


Support the production of short audio clips, teaser content, or complementary photo/video materials where relevant.
Maintain a well-organised audio archive (raw recordings, edited files, transcripts where applicable) for reuse and dissemination.
Coordinate with the communications team to align podcasts with LLEARN website updates, social media visibility, and CDE priorities.
Deliverables will be agreed on a rolling basis in line with programme timelines.


Required Qualifications


Proven experience producing podcasts or audio storytelling in development, humanitarian, or research contexts;
Strong background or demonstrated understanding of:
Migration, return and reintegration (for LLEARN); and
Climate change, conflict, resilience, and fragility (for Karamoja Strong);
Experience conducting interviews and translating complex issues into clear, engaging audio narratives;
Strong ethical awareness and experience applying community-centred and inclusive storytelling approaches;
Excellent spoken and written English; additional East African languages are a strong asset;
Familiarity with East Africa and locally led or municipal-level programming strongly preferred
