Position Summary

The Farm Pen Worker is responsible for the daily care, maintenance, and monitoring of livestock pens. This role ensures that birds/animals have a clean, safe, and healthy environment, supporting overall farm productivity, animal welfare, and biosecurity standards.

Key Responsibilities

Animal Care


Monitor birds/animals daily for health, behavior, and activity level.
Identify sick or injured animals and report issues immediately.
Assist with administering feed, water, and supplements as instructed.


Pen Maintenance


Clean pens, remove waste, and ensure bedding is properly managed.
Maintain feeding and watering equipment.
Ensure pens are dry, well-ventilated, and secure.


Biosecurity & Safety


Follow all farm biosecurity protocols (footbath, clothing, PPE).
Control entry into pens to prevent contamination.
Follow safety practices when handling animals or equipment.


Record Keeping


Document daily mortality, feed consumption, and unusual observations.
Report inventory changes (feed, bedding, medications).


General Support


Assist with vaccination, sorting, loading, or treatment processes.
Help maintain farm cleanliness and sanitation overall.
Support other farm workers when needed.


Skills & Qualifications


Experience working with animals (preferred but not required).
Ability to follow directions and adhere to strict hygiene protocols.
Physically able to lift 30 - 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
Comfortable working in warm or humid environments.
Reliable, punctual, and attentive to detail.
