Key responsibilities include:


Prepare engineering studies, specifications, designs, drawings, and bills of quantities for power system projects.
Supervise the construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of low, medium, and high voltage power networks and associated equipment.
Operate and maintain overhead, underground, indoor, and outdoor electrical distribution and transmission infrastructure.
Design, implement, and manage renewable energy systems, including solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions.
Prepare technical tender documents, evaluate bids, and support procurement activities for power-related projects and services.
Monitor power system performance and reliability, and implement measures to improve network safety, efficiency, and availability.
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards, regulatory requirements, and health, safety, and environmental policies.
Manage projects, contractors, and technical teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of assigned works.


Requirements


Minimum of eight (8) years of hands-on experience in the design, construction, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of power utility infrastructure, including electricity generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Registered Professional Engineer or Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya and a member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya.
Licensed Electrical Worker by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, preferably Class B or higher.
Licensed Solar PV Technician by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, preferably Class T3 will be an added advantage.
Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems and equipment.
Proven experience in design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and operation of solar photovoltaic (PV) and other renewable energy systems.
Experience in the preparation of technical tender documents, bid evaluations, and contract administration for engineering projects.
Demonstrated experience in managing engineering projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
Proven ability to lead, supervise, mentor, and develop technical teams and contractors in a utility or engineering environment.
Good understanding of applicable utility regulations, engineering standards, health and safety requirements, and environmental compliance obligations.
Proficiency in power system studies and analysis, including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and system modelling using software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, CYME, or equivalent.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and other engineering design, modelling, and simulation software.
