Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources.
Deliver lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum and learning objectives.
Apply learner-centered teaching methodologies to enhance participation and understanding.
Integrate ICT and digital learning tools into classroom activities where applicable.
Ensure timely syllabus coverage and achievement of learning outcomes.
Support learners with diverse educational needs through differentiated instruction.
Assessment and Evaluation
Conduct continuous assessments and maintain accurate learner records.
Prepare, administer, and mark assignments, projects, tests, and examinations.
Monitor learner progress and provide timely feedback.
Prepare and submit learner progress reports within the required timelines.
Maintain learner portfolios and assessment documentation.
Learner Management and Welfare
Maintain discipline and promote positive behavior among learners.
Monitor learner attendance and follow up on absenteeism and lateness.
Ensure learner safety, health, and well-being while in school.
Provide guidance and mentorship to support learners' personal development.
Identify learners requiring additional academic or psychosocial support and make referrals where necessary.
Classroom Management
Create and maintain a conducive learning environment.
Manage classroom resources and ensure proper use of teaching and learning materials.
Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety within the classroom.
Co-curricular Activities
Participate in sports, clubs, music, drama, and other extracurricular activities.
Identify and nurture learners' talents and abilities.
Support school events, educational trips, and community activities.
Administrative Responsibilities
Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional development programs.
Maintain accurate academic and administrative records.
Prepare reports and documentation as required by school management.
Participate in curriculum implementation and school improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement
Communicate learner progress and concerns to parents and guardians.
Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school community activities.
Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to support learner success.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education from a recognized institution.
Registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Knowledge and understanding of Competency-Based Education (CBE).
Teaching experience in a primary school environment is an added advantage.
Proficiency in ICT integration in teaching and learning.
