Job Description
We are seeking a highly qualified Procurement and Logistics Coordinator to join our team.
As a Procurement Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the flow of materials from requisition through to receiving, inspection, storage of products, distribution, levels and ensuring the availability of materials at the right time and in a safe manner for smooth operations.
Responsible for overseeing all vendor / supplier-related functions to maximize efficiency and productivity
Main task and Responsibilities
Assist in the procurement process from requisition through to purchase order placement, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Support the evaluation of suppliers and conduct market research to identify potential vendors.
Help maintain accurate records of vendor contracts, prices, and terms to ensure compliance with company policies.
Collaborate with different departments to understand their procurement needs and provide timely support.
Participate in supplier negotiations and assist in the preparation of purchase agreements.
Monitor inventory levels and assist in forecasting future procurement needs.
Maintain accurate inventory records and oversee warehouse storage to ensure efficiency.
Select carriers, negotiate rates, and manage shipping schedules to optimize costs.
Assist in planning, executing, and monitoring projects, including managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
Plan and coordinate product movements (inbound/outbound), warehouse operations, and transportation logistics.
Perform daily administrative tasks like scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, and maintaining organized records.
Prepare status reports, update project documentation, and report on progress to management.
Monitor inventory levels, ensure timely delivery of goods, and coordinate with warehouse and logistics team.
Ensure compliance with industry laws, regulations, and ISO requirements.
Examine documents to ensure accuracy with actual materials received, in order to assess completeness and conformance to standards and specifications.
Work with internal departments like finance and operations to understand their procurement needs and requirements.
Analyze market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Help resolve issues and conflicts that may arise within the team or with external parties.
Make sure goods and storage facilities are in line with HSE standards.
Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses in accordance with procedures.
Attend safety meetings when programmed.
Handle shipping complaints and resolve problems, such as delays or damaged goods.
Wear personal protective equipment when required.
Be responsible for the protection of lives and assets of the company.
And any other duties that may be assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in procurement and logistics; a supply chain role is typically required.
A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or any relevant discipline.
Should reside in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, or be willing to relocate.
