The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing materials, furniture, fittings, equipment, and services required for project execution. You must understand the materials, suppliers, specifications, and procurement processes involved in delivering interior fit-out and design and build projects.
Candidates without relevant experience in the interior fit-out or design and build industry will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Source and procure construction materials, interior finishes, furniture, fixtures, fittings, equipment, and other project requirements in line with approved specifications.
Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers, manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors within the industry.
Obtain and analyse quotations, negotiate competitive prices, and recommend suppliers based on cost, quality, availability, and delivery timelines.
Ensure materials procured meet approved technical specifications, quality standards, quantities, and project requirements.
Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, the Construction team, and the Design team to understand procurement requirements and delivery schedules.
Prepare and process purchase requisitions, requests for quotations, purchase orders, and other procurement documentation.
Track purchase orders and deliveries to ensure materials arrive on site when required to prevent project delays.
Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, alternative materials, cost-saving opportunities, and emerging industry trends.
Monitor material prices and maintain an updated supplier and pricing database.
Coordinate the inspection and verification of delivered materials to confirm compliance with approved specifications and quantities.
Manage supplier performance, resolve delivery discrepancies, and escalate procurement risks promptly.
Ensure proper documentation of procurement transactions and compliance with approved budgets, authorisation procedures, and company policies.
Maintain accurate procurement records, including quotations, purchase orders, delivery notes, invoices, and supplier agreements.
Monitor procurement expenditure against approved project budgets and identify potential cost overruns.
Support inventory monitoring and ensure proper coordination of materials required across project sites.
Prepare periodic procurement reports covering order status, supplier performance, cost savings, outstanding deliveries, and procurement risks.
Requirements
BSc/HND in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Purchasing and Supply, or a related discipline.
3 - 5 years of relevant procurement experience, with demonstrable experience in the interior fit-out or design and build industry.
Practical knowledge of interior finishes, building materials, furniture, joinery, lighting, sanitary fittings, ironmongery, and other fit-out materials.
Familiarity with local suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, and subcontractors serving the interior fit-out and construction industry.
Experience interpreting material schedules, bills of quantities (BOQs), specifications, and project procurement requirements.
Strong negotiation, vendor management, and cost-analysis skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant procurement or inventory management tools.
Excellent organisational, documentation, and reporting skills.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple procurement requests simultaneously.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project delivery timelines.
High level of integrity, accountability, and commercial awareness.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate understands that procurement in the interior fit-out and design and build industry goes beyond purchasing materials at the lowest price. It requires a strong understanding of technical specifications, material quality, supplier reliability, lead times, and the impact of procurement decisions on project cost and delivery.
You must be proactive in anticipating project needs, resourceful in identifying suppliers, confident in negotiating favourable terms, and meticulous in ensuring that the right materials are delivered in the right quantities, at the right quality, and at the right time.
Disclaimer: We receive a high volume of applications and may not be able to respond to every applicant. Only candidates who meet the stated requirements, including relevant industry experience, will be considered for the next stage of the recruitment process.
