Job Purpose:
The Product Manager - Assets is responsible for the end-to-end management, growth, profitability, competitiveness, and lifecycle optimization of the bank's asset products portfolio, including retail, SME, commercial and corporate lending solutions. The role drives product innovation, pricing strategy, portfolio performance, and customer value proposition.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Portfolio Management Develop and execute asset product strategies aligned to the bank's growth and risk appetite, managing the full product lifecycle across target segments (Retail, SME, Corporate, Commercial). Identify market gaps, develop innovative lending solutions, and monitor portfolio quality. Develop relevant internal and external product campaigns.
Commercial Performance & Profitability Own asset product P&L and portfolio performance. Design pricing, interest and fee strategies, and recommend adjustments to optimize profitability and competitiveness.
Market Intelligence & Innovation Conduct competitor benchmarking and market analysis to identify new revenue streams. Lead development of differentiated propositions, including digital and automated lending products.
Risk, Compliance & Governance Ensure product structures align with credit policy, risk appetite and regulatory/governance frameworks. Support business teams in structuring lending programs. Drive product knowledge campaigns and maintain relevant internal governance records and standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration- Work closely with Credit, Risk, Legal, Operations, Finance and
Technology teams. Support Sales teams with product training, tools and technical guidance. Partner with Marketing to support product campaigns and launches.
Performance Analytics & Reporting- Develop product dashboards and portfolio performance reports.
Monitor portfolio quality indicators and recommend interventions. Provide data insights to support decision making and strategy refinement.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Banking, Business, Statistics or related field
Master's degree in MBA, Finance or Strategy is an added advantage
Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, ACCA, FRM, or equivalent are desirable
Professional banking qualification (AKIB or equivalent) is an added advantage
Certification in Product Management, Digital Banking or Credit Risk is desirable
Experience Requirements
Minimum 7 - 10 years banking experience
At least 4 - 5 years in lending product management, credit, or portfolio management
Proven experience managing lending products or credit portfolios
Experience in multi-segment banking (Retail, SME, Corporate) preferred
Demonstrated experience launching or optimizing lending products
Exposure to digital lending and automation initiatives is an added advantage
