Responsibilities
Plan and manage production schedules for books, journals and materials.
Coordinate effective processes and timelines to ensure on-time completion of projects.
Oversee typesetting, page layout, formatting, and proofreading processes.
Liaise with editors, designers, illustrators, and printers.
Approve print and digital proofs before final production.
Ensure final products meet quality standards (color, layout, binding, resolution).
Prepare and manage production budgets.
Optimize costs without reducing quality.
Assign work to in-house production in- house staff and part time workers
Monitor workloads to avoid delays.
Resolve production problems such as misprints, late deliveries, or supplier issues.
Keep records of schedules, budgets, and vendor contracts.
Track performance and costs for reporting.
Ensure compliance with copyright laws, printing standards, and environmental regulations.
Research and introduce new technologies or workflows to improve efficiency
Must be good with Estimation as it pertains to printing and production planning in publishing.
Qualification and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Publishing, Printing Technology, Graphics Design, Industrial Production, Mass Communication or related field.
Professional Certification in print production or project management is an added advantage.
Experience:
5-7 years continuous and progressive experience in book or print production, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
Required Skills:
Technical expertise in printing processes, prepress/layout software, and digital publishing tools.
Project management skills for scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating multiple tasks.
Strong communication and negotiation abilities for working with teams and vendors.
Problem-solving skills to handle delays, errors, or cost challenges.
Attention to detail to ensure quality and consistency in final products.
Leadership skills to supervise staff, motivate teams, and drive efficiency.
