About the Role


We are looking for a highly capable, hands-on Production Supervisor to serve as the direct deputy to the Production Manager (Packhouse).
As the Production Supervisor you will be expected to lead different production sections, make real-time operational decisions, and take full control of the production floor. Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Production Execution


Execute daily and weekly production schedules across the production lines and retail sections to meet sales orders and inventory targets.
Allocate manpower, materials, and machinery effectively, anticipate bottlenecks and implement immediate corrective actions.
Take full accountability for meeting daily production output targets set.


Team Leadership & Shift Management


Supervise, coach, and mentor section heads for the different production sections.
Lead daily pre-shift production meetings to communicate priorities, review performance, and solve challenges.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance on the shop floor.


Quality, Food Safety & Hygiene (BRCGS Standards)


Enforce GMP, SOPs, and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures across all production areas.
Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure in-process quality checks are performed and documented and take immediate action on deviations.
Maintain impeccable hygiene ready for daily inspections and external audits.
Champion a "Quality at Source" mindset and immediately report any risks of unsafe or out-of-spec products.


Cost Control & Efficiency


Monitor cost per kilo—optimize raw material usage, labor productivity, and reduce waste.
Track KPIs- yield, throughput, hygiene, sanitation, and machine efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and lower costs.


Logistics & Warehouse Oversight


Oversee finished goods warehouse and dispatch operations.
Ensure accurate receipt, storage, and dispatch using strict FIFO principles.
Guarantee cold chain integrity for the products and ensure loading complies with food safety standards.


Maintenance & Safety (Zero Incident Culture)


Coordinate with the Engineering department to prioritize planned and breakdown maintenance with minimal disruption.
Ensure operators perform basic preventative maintenance checks.
Promote and enforce a "Zero Incident" safety culture and ensure all accidents/near-misses are reported, recorded and investigated.


Qualifications


Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Food Science, Horticulture, or related field.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a food processing or FMCG environment, with at least 3 years in a production management role overseeing multiple teams or shifts.
Horticultural sector experience is mandatory - you must have worked in fresh produce, packhouse, or related horticultural production.
Strong leadership and management skills with real command - you can direct section heads, hold people accountable, and maintain discipline on the floor.
Deep knowledge of food safety standards (BRCGS, GMP, HACCP, FSSC)
Experience with production KPIs (yield, throughput, efficiency, waste reduction).
Familiarity with cold chain logistics and FIFO warehouse principles.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
