Job Description :
In addition to lecturing at under- and postgraduate level, the appointee will be expected to supervise under- and postgraduate students, take part in community engagement efforts, be involved in other departmental activities and conduct and supervise research as a part of a Research Group in the Department Electrical and Electronic Engineering Science.
Responsibilities:
Lecturing at under- and postgraduate level in the discipline of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Science.
Supervision of final year undergraduate / capstone project students.
Engaging in the scholarship of teaching and learning, using innovative teaching practices and a blended learning approach including the utilisation of technology assisted teaching, learning and assessment practices.
Conducting and supervision of a Research, including supervision of postgraduate students on a Master's and Doctoral level and postdoctoral research fellows in the discipline of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Conducting leading research producing recognised research outputs (ISI-/IBSS-listed journals).
Actively participating in administration tasks of the department including but not limited to administration related to teaching, supervision, research and community engagement initiatives.
Be actively involved in national and global collaboration opportunities, both research and teaching and learning initiatives.
Advance the discipline of Electrical and Electronic Engineering through industrial engagement, community engagement and active participation in voluntary associations / professional societies.
Minimum requirements
PhD (NQF level 10) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent degree.
Master's in Engineering (MEng, NQF level 9) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent degree.
Bachelor of Engineering (BEng, NQF level 8) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent degree.
A minimum of 10 years industrial and/or academic experience in the Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering field.
Registered Professional Engineer, Candidate Professional Engineer or eligible to be registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Documented proof of own industrial and/or academic research and strong evidence of research growth potential.
Track record of demonstrated leadership experience.
Broad Electrical and Electronic Engineering Science disciplinary knowledge, skills and competencies
Recommendations:
Noteworthy career in the Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering industry or Higher Education institution.
Relevant evidence of discipline advancement and / or community engagement projects.
Teaching and research experience in a Higher Education institution.
Evidence of research outputs and strong research profile.
Proven track record of postgraduate supervision at Master's and Doctoral level.
Currently NRF-rated, or on track to be rated in the next 1-2 years.
Proven record of engagement with the scholarship of teaching and learning, innovative teaching and research techniques incorporating technology.
Research specialization that articulates well with the existing interest of the Department.
External research funding as primary investigator
