Duties and Responsibilities

The internship is UNPAID. The minimum duration of this internship is ten (10) working weeks. Interns work five days per week (full-time - 40 hours). This internship is located at the office of the Country Representative of the UNODC Country Office in Nigeria (CONGA), Abuja. The office oversees CONGA programs & operations and manages the entire CONGA office as well as partnerships. Carrying out his/her tasks under the direct supervision of the CONGA Country Representative, the intern will perform the following functions:


Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents
Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings
Document, legal and internet research
Assistance during conferences
Working on web-presentation
Evaluation of projects
Compiling statistics
Media analysis
Speech-writing
Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications/special skills


To qualify for an internship with the UNODC CONGA Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
Meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). ;
Have studied areas such as political science, public affairs, administration, programme management, or any related area;
Computer literacy in standard software applications;
Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
Have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. The training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during the internship.
