A prominent player in the metallurgy and mining resource sector is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Accountant to join their finance team at Head Office. The incumbent will be responsible for the end-to-end financial accounting of projects, supporting execution through to completion in line with overarching financial strategies.
Key Performance Areas:
Financial Accounting & Capital Management: Take full ownership of accounting for project finances by preparing financial management accounts, project reporting, consolidating financial statements, and preparing monthly and annual cash flows.
Administrative & Financial Control: Oversee all financial and related administrative functions, ensuring accurate capturing of data to assist project teams with ongoing financial planning.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Manage complex budgeting and forecasting models. Capture information in financial models to prepare short, medium, and long-term budgetary reporting, ensuring project teams adhere to package budgets.
Governance, Compliance & Audit: Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures. Assist with internal and external audits, and compile and submit all required statutory reporting on time.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: A completed BCom Accounting or equivalent tertiary qualification.
Professional Alignment: Chartered Accountant (CA) South Africa or CIMA qualification is highly advantageous.
Experience: 5 to 8 years of corporate finance experience, of which a minimum of 2 years must be within a project or mining environment.
Systems: Strong, practical working knowledge of SAP is required.
Logistics: Must be prepared to travel between operations/plants as and when required.
Attributes: Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work professionally with internal and external constituents.
