CARING - INNOVATING - TOGETHER: Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 13 million patients and today deploys its operations in 12 African countries and extended to support the emergency in Haiti. In 2022, we developed 62 humanitarian medical response projects to meet the needs of populations affected by conflicts, epidemics and extreme poverty. All of these projects are carried out in support to national authorities through nearly 511 health facilities. Whenever possible, We work in partnership with local NGOs to ensure that our patients benefit from the best and most relevant expertise wherever it is, whether within their own country or in the rest of the world. In addition, to improve the humanitarian response, we are carrying out operational and clinical research projects, particularly in the field of the fight against malnutrition and viral haemorrhagic fevers.

ALIMA IN SUDAN
ALIMA has been present in Sudan since 2021 with projects in South Kordofan and Khartoum states responding to urgent health and nutrition needs of populations affected by conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic. In 20222, ALIMA in coordination with the Ministry of Health (MOH) intervened in two localities in South Kordofan, supporting Kadugli Teaching Hospital Maternity and Pediatric Units, two Primary Healthcare Centers (PHC) and mobile clinics, including a rapid response mobile clinic for the influx of IDPs at Kadugli Bus Station IDP Camp. ALIMA also strengthened capacity for optimal case management of severe COVID-19 cases by increasing access to medical oxygen at Al Shaab Teaching Hospital, a 350-bed specialist hospital designated as a COVID-19 Treatment Center in Khartoum. ALIMA installed a PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) Oxygen Plant delivering medical oxygen directly to the operating theater and general wards. Additionally, ALIMA conducted training with MOH staff on oxygen therapy for optimal case management and on preventive and curative maintenance of key biomedical equipment.
Since April 15, 2023, the conflict in Sudan has caused devastating humanitarian consequences. Over 15,000 people have lost their lives, and more than 10 million have been displaced, creating one of the world's worst displacement crises. Many of these internally displaced persons (IDPs) have fled to neighboring countries such as Chad, Ethiopia, and South Sudan, seeking safety. Since the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) regained control of Khartoum in March 2025, at least 800,000 refugees have returned either to Sudan or their original regions, indicating ongoing instability and contested control. Despite international mediation efforts, peace remains elusive. The Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) refuse to cease hostilities, and regional and global actors have taken sides, deepening the conflict. Recently, a proposed three-month ceasefire was accepted by RSF but rejected by SAF, illustrating the persistent deadlock.
In West Darfur, the situation remains critical. An assessment conducted in August 2025 by ALIMA revealed severe deficiencies in healthcare infrastructure, especially in Jebel Moon and Kulbus localities. Many health facilities have been abandoned since the start of the conflict, with some operating only minimally or not at all. Critical shortages of medical supplies, equipment, and trained staff hinder essential healthcare delivery. The region faces urgent needs for infrastructure rehabilitation, consistent drug supplies, and the deployment of trained community health workers. Re-establishing healthcare services in areas like Manjora, Narmala, Falca, and Selea is vital to reduce disease, mortality, and improve community wellbeing. In Kulbus, reviving health facilities such as the NHIF hospital and establishing mobile clinics will provide much-needed access to medical care for vulnerable populations. Overall, the ongoing conflict has severely disrupted health systems, demanding urgent intervention to save lives and restore stability in West Darfur.
Increase access to life-saving primary and secondary healthcare, including GBV and reproductive health services, for internally displaced persons and vulnerable host communities in South Kordofan and North Darfur
Improve access and provision of nutrition services for the prevention and treatment of severe acute malnutrition among children under 5 years.
Ensure prevention and an immediate response to emergency needs in the event of a crisis or displacement
