Country Summary


Swisscontact Kenya serves as the regional office for the CESAF region and the hub for programs across Kenya. For over two decades, Swisscontact has empowered youth through entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, market-driven skills training, and sustainable development projects. The organization is currently implementing a diverse portfolio of projects spanning Agribusiness, Eye Healthcare, Digital Skills, Green Skills and E-Mobility entrepreneurship, including PropelA, which focuses on youth skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship in electrical, plumbing & lift mechanics trades.


General Position Summary


The Project Officer will support the effective implementation of the Future Fit Project, contributing to the delivery of high‑quality project activities in digital skills, green skills (with a focus on e‑mobility), youth entrepreneurship and jobs. The role will provide operational, coordination, and technical support to ensure project outputs are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with donor, partner, and organizational requirements.
This position requires a proactive, critical thinker who is entrepreneurial and detail-oriented. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively balance project support with other administrative tasks.
This role is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and involves travel to field locations up to 30% of the time.


Essential Job Responsibilities

Project Implementation


Support day to day implementation of project activities across the digital skills and green/e-mobility skills, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Assist in coordinating project activities with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, private sector partners, and financial institutions.
Assist in planning, scheduling, and organizing trainings, workshops, apprenticeships, curriculum development sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
Ensure timely follow‑up on action points arising from meetings and field activities.
Contribute to developing project concepts, intervention strategies, and reporting.
Ensure the integration of sustainability and market systems development principles across project activities.
Support partners in operational planning, quality assurance, and impact assessments.


Monitoring & Evaluation


Collaborate with the MEL Specialist to develop monitoring tools and track impact outcomes.
Support routine monitoring of project activities, outputs, and indicators in line with the project Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework.
Assist in collecting, organizing, and validating quantitative and qualitative data from partners, service providers, and beneficiaries.
Prepare inputs for project reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual reports).
Support documentation of learning, success stories, and good practices from implementation.


Stakeholder Management


Support engagement with TVET institutions, including trainers and administrators, to facilitate curriculum modernization and blended learning approaches.
Liaise with private sector partners (e‑mobility companies, digital firms, financiers) to support apprenticeships, piloting of training models, and youth employment pathways.
Facilitate coordination with ecosystem actors such as industry associations and innovation partners.
Build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners, NGOs, and community organizations.
Support communication and collaboration between project partners.
Identify opportunities for partnerships and innovation within the Future Fit project.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience


Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Education, Economics, Business, Engineering, ICT, or a related field.
Familiarity with donor‑funded projects and results‑based project management approaches.
2-3 years' of professional experience supporting development projects, NGOs, or private sector initiatives in youth employment, TVET's, digital skills, green skills or entrepreneurship programmes.
Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills to balance project responsibilities.
Experience working with TVET institutions, private sector partners, or youth‑focused initiatives is highly desirable.
Relevant professional certification in project management or monitoring and evaluation is an added advantage.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including youth, trainers, private companies, and financial institutions.
Basic monitoring, reporting, and data management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Swahili is an added advantage) with strong presentation abilities.
Proficiency in MS Office applications; experience with digital learning platforms is an asset.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and under pressure, meeting deadlines while handling multiple priorities
