Duities


The Provost is the Chief Executive, Administrative and Accounting Officer of the College.
The successful candidate would be expected to provide the required Academic, Administrative, and Professional Leadership for the College in executing the broad policies laid down by the Governing Council for the attainment of objectives for which the institution was established.
The Provost is the Chairman of the Academic Board
The Provost shall attend all meetings of the Governing Council and present periodic reports on the activities and progress of the College.
He/she shall also ensure the faithful and timely implementation of all decisions of the Governing Council;
Ensure compliance with Federal Government Policies and directives from the Federal Ministry of Education;
Prepare and present annual budgets and financial reports to the Governing Council and relevant authorities; and
He/she has statutory power to exercise general authority over the staff and students for direction and discipline in the College.


Requirements


Candidate should possess a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) from a recognized university in a field relevant to at least one program in the College and must be from the Colleges of Education sub-sector.
Candidate must be a Chief Lecturer with at least five (5) years cognate experience;
He/she should be a registered and active member of a Professional Association in the field of Education;
Possession of a professional teaching qualification, a minimum of Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), in addition to registration as a Professional Teacher with TRCN, is mandatory:
Candidate must not be above the age of fifty-nine (59) years at the time of taking up the appointment;
Candidate must have held a senior teaching/research and top administrative post in a College of Education system as evidence of ability to manage human and material resources:
Candidate must show evidence of a good track record in result-oriented research reaching high National and International status in their research achievements, as evident in scholarly publications.
Candidate must be of good conduct and character, possess a sense of discipline, dedication, drive, and resourcefulness, and be able to command the respect and loyalty of the members of staff and students of the College.
He/she must be somebody who is not likely to foster personal, social, ethnic, political, religious, and other sectional interests.
Candidate must be proficient in Information Communication Technology packages and capacities.
Evidence of Community Service, both local and National Development; and
Candidate must be a man/woman of Vision, a Goal-getter, and one who can execute a strategic plan for the College.


Vision and Mission Statement:


The candidate must submit, in clear terms, in not more than two (2) pages, his/her Vision and Mission statement for the College in the next 5 years.


Tenure of Appointment


The appointment of the Provost is for a single term of five (5) years only, beginning from the effective date of appointment.


Salary


Consolidated salary for the Provost of the Federal Colleges of Education will be applicable.


Condition of Service


The successful candidate will be entitled to the privileges and benefits of Principal Officers as specified in the terms and conditions of service for Staff of Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria and other conditions which may be approved from time to time by the Governing Council of the College in accordance with the Colleges of Education Act, and in consultation with the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).
