About the role
This role oversees laboratory, quality, and food safety operations to ensure raw materials, products, and processes consistently meet quality, GMP, and regulatory standards. You will also drive continuous improvement, support audits and investigations, maintain accurate records, and promote a strong culture of safety and environmental compliance.
Key responsibilities
Understanding and adherence to set company procedures.
Guide the operation team in adherence to set procedures and working instructions.
Timely incoming raw material/packaging inspections and analysis ensuring the specified requirements are met and retention of reference samples.
Inline products control and testing to set parameters to achieve conformant products.
Conduct personnel and premise checks to ensure adherence to GMPs and GHPs.
Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization of laboratory and premise.
Coordinate submission of samples for external laboratories testing and filling of results.
Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation through prescribed cleaning and monitoring procedures.
Participate in the internal and external audits.
Ensure adherence to food handlers' medical records for all personnel working in the food production area as per the local authorities' requirements.
Follow up on equipment calibrations to ensure their correct functionality.
Participate in the investigation of non-conformances and customer complaints.
Maintain product retention samples inventory and database.
Maintain accurate laboratory, raw materials, and product records.
Coordinate and ensure day to day activities are carried out in a safe manner not posing risk to the operators.
Train the team on the safety requirements and ensure adherence to the requirements by all.
Report any safety concerns immediately to the line manager.
Working together with other departments to promote team-based solutions to problems.
Take over management roles in absence of the line manager.
Carry out any other tasks as instructed by the line manager and/or any other management person(s).
Follow procedures that minimize environmental impact, such as proper waste disposal, energy conservation, and pollution prevention.
Promptly report any environmental incidents, spills, or non-conformities to the appropriate your direct line manager.
Engage in EHS training, audits, and improvement initiatives as required.
Comply with all company safety policies and procedures, report any hazards and unsafe conditions immediately and actively participate in safety training programs.
Qualifications and skills
Preferably a diploma or degree in Food Science, Technology, Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry, or any food related course.
Good to have experience in quality analysis, preferably with a Food Manufacturing environment.
Knowledge in Food Safety, HACCP, GMPs & GHPs.
Audit experience and Food safety certifications implementation (advantageous).
Computer literate.
