Job Summary
The QA Engineer ensures that all construction activities, materials, and finished works comply with project specifications, approved drawings, building codes, contractual requirements, and industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, BS). The role focuses on prevention of defects through system audits, process control, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
Quality System Implementation
Implement and maintain the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 and project-specific requirements.
Ensure all site personnel understand and follow approved Method Statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and Work Procedures.
Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and site engineers on quality-related matters.
Inspection & Testing
Conduct regular inspections of incoming materials (concrete, steel, aggregates, finishes, MEP items) against approved samples and test certificates.
Witness and document all required site tests: compaction, slump, rebound hammer, pull-out, pachometer, leak tests, etc.
Perform in-process inspections during reinforcement, formwork, concreting, blockwork, plastering, tiling, waterproofing, and finishing stages.
Identify non-conformities (NCRs), issue reports, and track corrective/preventive actions to closure.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain complete QA records: ITP checklists, inspection logs, material approval requests, test reports, and as-built documentation.
Prepare daily/weekly quality reports for management and clients.
Ensure all inspection requests (IRs) are submitted to consultants/clients in a timely manner.
Compliance & Audits
Ensure compliance with local building regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
Participate in internal and external quality audits (client, third-party, certification bodies).
Conduct subcontractor quality performance evaluations.
Continuous Improvement
Analyze recurring defects and recommend design or process improvements.
Lead root cause analysis for major failures and implement preventive actions.
Conduct quality inductions and toolbox talks for site labor and technicians.
Support adherence to project schedules through quality compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (Diploma holders with extensive experience may be considered).
ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification required; OSHA/Safety certification preferred. ASQ/CQI or Six Sigma Green Belt is an added advantage.
3 - 8 years' experience in QA/QC on building or infrastructure projects (high-rise, residential, commercial, roads, or utilities).
Strong technical skills, including reading structural and architectural drawings, use of testing equipment (e.g., compression machine, cover meter), and proficiency in MS Office and QA documentation systems.
