The Quality Officer is responsible for ensuring that all incoming and outgoing agricultural commodities meet established quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role involves inspecting, testing, and monitoring product quality across procurement, storage, processing, and distribution stages to ensure compliance with company standards and customer expectations. The Quality Officer also supports quality assurance processes, documentation, traceability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct quality inspections and assessments on incoming and outgoing agricultural commodities to ensure compliance with approved standards and specifications.
Perform sampling, testing, and monitoring activities at various operational stages including procurement, storage, processing, and dispatch.
Identify, document, and report quality defects, contamination risks, non-conformities, or deviations from standards.
Ensure proper implementation of quality control procedures, SOPs, and food safety requirements.
Monitor product handling, storage conditions, and preservation practices to maintain commodity quality.
Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, test results, and traceability documentation.
Coordinate with warehouse, procurement, logistics, and laboratory teams to resolve quality-related issues.
Support investigation and resolution of customer complaints or product quality concerns.
Participate in internal audits, quality reviews, and compliance assessments.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards applicable to agro commodities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or HND in Food Science, Agricultural Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Quality Management, or related field.
Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control within agro-processing, FMCG, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
Knowledge of food safety, commodity grading, and quality management systems is an added advantage.
