Job Summary & Purpose


Responsible for the development and implementation of processes, systems and procedures for effective management of innovation on products/processes and product quality to ensure long term profitability/viability of our brands, minimize the costs of non-conformities to meet all set standards, good manufacturing practices, customer requirements and statutory regulations.
Responsible for ensuring effective management of the quality interface between the company and the consumers.


Job Responsibilities


Guides Management in decision making in all issues that have product quality, compliance and statutory implications.
Implement group quality policies, procedures and guidelines in the factory.
Clearly communicate changes in group quality policies to relevant colleague's cross- functionally and ensure they are properly trained and capable to execute same.
Ensuring that all Manufacturing procedures / specifications conform to statutory requirements.
Develop, implement and constantly review Quality Assurance procedures / manual for Raw & packaging materials inspection, Chemical Analysis and Process Audit for consistent product quality and continual improvement in the factory.
Co-ordinates activities of Food Safety and Quality Assurance in the factory.
Ensure that the processes needed for the Food Safety System Certification & Quality management system of the company are established, implemented, maintained and update in accordance with FSSC 22000:2017 and ISO 9001: 2015 standards.
Ensure appropriate procedures for water treatment are put in place, in line with existing statutory requirements for food processing.
Ensure that the quality of raw materials, finished products and water are always satisfactory by establishing systems/procedures for thorough physical/microbiological/chemical analyses in line with SON's and other International's standards.
Ensure that procedures for handling, storage and distribution of raw/ packaging materials and finished products are developed, maintained and constantly reviewed.
Ensures that facilities and climatic conditions of processing areas and storage warehouses for products and raw materials are adequately monitored to facilitate process conformances and guide against generation of non-conforming and damaged products respectively.
Develop and update the company's FSSC, QMS and GMP manuals and other system procedures for process alignment and continual improvement
Ensure quick resolution of customers' complaints on issues of product quality and any other complaints logged in by sales and marketing team.
Ensure that procedures to monitor product handling and distribution are recommended and communicated with required training where necessary to guard against post production damage in trade.
Responsible sensory evaluation and conformance of raw materials, in-process and finished products.
Manage Supplier quality to include material/supplier approval and qualification, supplier performance & evaluation, supplier audit and 3P manufacturing.
Ensures compliance with FSSC and QMS related activities in the company.
Liaise with Government regulatory bodies; SON, NAFDAC and Others as may be required in conjunction with the regulatory affairs manager.
Coordinate general RDQ training plans for the factory in conjunction with HR department for improved operational performance and process ownership.
Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy on assigned jobs
Ensure awareness, understanding and application departmental /process QHSE objectives;
Ensure awareness of your contribution to the effectiveness of the QHSE Management Systems, including the benefits of improved performance including associated
opportunities for improvement of the processes assigned;
Ensure awareness of the implications of not conforming with the Company QHSE Management Systems requirements including associated risks for the process assigned
Implement and comply with QHSE requirements relating to environmental aspects and impacts and other policies, procedures and /or regulations applicable to assigned jobs
Understand and apply the intent of the QHSE policy to assigned jobs
Understand the significant environmental aspects and related actual or potential impacts associated with their work, and the environmental benefits of improved personal performance
Understand roles and responsibilities and the importance of conformity with the QHSE requirements.
Understand the potential consequences of departure from specified QHSE procedures or legal requirements


Requirements


Minimum qualification and experience: A good university degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Science/Technology or any Pure Sciences.
Experience: 8 - 10 years relevant work experience within the FMCG Industry. At least, three (3) Years' experience leading an agile and motivated team.


Knowledge & Experience:


Good understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)Experience implementing global quality standards (e.g SQF).
Knowledge of local and international quality & food safety regulations
Experience leading and/or coordinating internal/external Process Audit/Evaluation.
Knowledge of SOP Design & Coordination
Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices
