Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor assists the Senior Quantity Surveyor in managing construction costs, measurements, and site financial records.
The role focuses on site measurements, material tracking, preparation of valuations, and assisting with cost control to ensure projects are executed within budget and in line with Nigerian construction standards.
Key Responsibilities
Site Measurement & Valuation:
Take accurate site measurements of work executed.
Assist in preparing interim valuations and payment certificates.
Measure variations and additional works on site.
Cost Control & Records:
Maintain daily records of materials delivered and used on site.
Track labor and material costs against the approved budget.
Assist in monitoring wastage and reporting cost overruns.
Bills of Quantities & Documentation:
Assist in preparing and updating Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
Prepare simple cost breakdowns and schedules.
Organize site cost documents, invoices, and delivery notes.
Procurement Support:
Assist in preparing material requisitions.
Compare supplier quotations and prepare basic cost analysis.
Support the Senior QS in vendor and subcontractor evaluations.
Site Coordination:
Liaise with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors on measurement and costing issues.
Attend site meetings when required and take cost-related notes.
Ensure work done aligns with drawings and specifications.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Accuracy of site measurements and records.
Timely submission of cost data and reports.
Level of support provided to Senior QS.
Reduction in material wastage through proper tracking.
Qualifications & Experience
HND or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
0 - 2 years site experience (NYSC experience is acceptable).
Required Skills & Competencies
Basic knowledge of construction methods and materials.
Good numerical and measurement skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications.
Ability to read construction drawings.
Willingness to work on-site and under supervision.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
