The Registrar is a Principal Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice Chancellor as Chief Administrative Officer.

The office covers records, examinations, statutory meetings, committee work and support for the general administration of the University.

The Registrar's duties include:


Keeping all records of the University in safe custody.
Arranging for the conduct of examinations.
Serving as Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation, Convocation and other bodies as the Statutes of the University may prescribe or as the Vice-Chancellor may direct.
Being responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for executive action arising from decisions of those bodies.
Serving as a member or secretary of academic and administrative committees as may be prescribed by law or by relevant University authorities.
Assisting the Vice-Chancellor with the general administration of the University.


Qualifications


Candidates for the Registrar post should possess a good honours first degree in the Liberal, Humanities or related disciplines.
A relevant post-graduate degree or diploma and registration with relevant professional bodies will be an added advantage.
Candidates are expected to have served for at least 15 years in sufficiently senior administrative capacities, either within the University system or comparable establishments.
Suitable candidates are expected to know the operation of the University system and must be competent to advise and take executive action on planning, design and management for the cardinal objectives of teaching, research and community service.
Computer knowledge and application are mandatory.
