Requirements :


Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Medical Practitioner.
Proof of current registration with the HPCSA from 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. Successfully completed the FC Orth (SA) intermediate exam, a minimum of 24 months of post-community service experience in Orthopaedics and with minimum 12 months spent at a secondary or tertiary level hospital with Orthopedic teaching facilities will be added advantage.
Participation in Orthopedic research and the completion of courses in basic Orthopaedic principles (AO Basic, Orthopaedic Diploma) and research methodology are considered added advantages.
Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and a commitment to continuing professional development and education. If deemed necessary, an additional assessment of your understanding of basic Orthopaedic principles and competencies and surgical logbook will be conducted.


Duties :


The duties will include evaluating and managing patients with Orthopaedic conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings, conducting clinical assessments, diagnosing conditions, and developing treatment plans and performance of surgical procedures under supervision, provide postoperative care, and respond to Orthopaedic emergencies.
Clinical administration tasks include maintaining patient records, coordinating care, and participating in ward rounds and meetings. Teaching and mentorship involve supervising junior staff, conducting training sessions, and contributing to educational programs. Participation in research projects, present findings, and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, they participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.
