Full-time
On-site
Requirements
National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current).
Registered with ECSA as a Candidate.
3 - 5 years' relevant experience in electrical maintenance, electrical condition monitoring, electrical reliability engineering or related electrical technical services.
Practical exposure to electrical equipment condition assessment, fault identification, technical reporting and maintenance recommendations.
Technical knowledge of electrical condition monitoring, Condition- Based Maintenance (CBM), predictive maintenance, electrical asset health assessment, infrared thermography, electrical fault identification, technical reporting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Experience in condition monitoring of electrical equipment within industrial, municipal, water, wastewater or similar operational environments will be an added advantage.
Valid code 08/B driver's licence.
Computer Literacy; MS Office.
Must be physically fit and able bodied.
Key Performance Areas
Conduct electrical condition-monitoring inspections and asset health assessments to identify deterioration, abnormal operating conditions and developing defects affecting Water and Sanitation electrical installations.
Inspect MCCs, switchgear, distribution boards, panels, motors, drives, cabling, terminations, protection and control systems, including infrared thermographic inspections where appropriately trained, competent, authorised and permitted.
Prepare concise technical reports containing findings, photographs, measurements, risk assessments, recommendations and follow-up requirements, and maintain electrical asset condition histories.
Analyse electrical equipment performance, chronic defects, breakdowns, trip events and failure trends, and support electrical fault-finding and Root Cause Analysis within the competence, authority and safety limitations of the position.
Provide technically sound electrical maintenance recommendations and technical input into preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies to improve reliability, availability, maintainability, safety and lifecycle performance.
Plan, coordinate, execute and monitor electrical condition- monitoring routes, inspection schedules and asset lists based on asset criticality and risk; identify and prioritise inspection backlogs and coverage gaps.
Provide specialised electrical Asset Care technical support to Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams, including participation in inspections, shutdowns, maintenance activities, commissioning assessments and post-maintenance verification.
Communicate electrical condition findings, risks, priorities and recommendations to relevant stakeholders; follow up corrective actions and escalate critical defects, unresolved high-risk conditions and matters requiring higher-level engineering intervention.
Provide technical guidance, coaching and knowledge transfer; contribute to troubleshooting guides, inspection checklists, work instructions and condition-monitoring procedures.
Research and maintain awareness of developments in electrical predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, thermography and reliability practices.
