Job Purpose
To oversee and manage the daily operations of the repairs workshop, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality repair of electrical products and equipment.
The role is responsible for leading the workshop team, maintaining service standards, optimizing turnaround times, and supporting the overall business objectives of the electrical wholesale operation.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Operations Management
Plan, organize, and supervise all workshop repair activities.
Ensure timely diagnosis, repair, and testing of electrical equipment.
Monitor workflow to meet turnaround time targets and customer expectations.
Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Team Leadership & Development
Manage, train, and mentor workshop technicians and support staff.
Allocate tasks and monitor team performance.
Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Quality Control & Compliance
Ensure all repairs meet quality standards and manufacturer specifications.
Enforce health and safety regulations and company policies.
Maintain compliance with relevant electrical and safety standards.
Conduct final inspections and approvals on completed repairs.
Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with internal sales teams and customers regarding repair status and technical queries.
Handle escalations, complaints, and warranty claims professionally.
Provide technical support and recommendations when required.
Inventory & Resource Management
Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
Coordinate procurement of tools, equipment, and consumables.
Monitor and control workshop expenses and budgets.
Reporting & Administration
Maintain accurate records of repairs, service reports, and job tracking.
Prepare regular reports on workshop performance (e.g., turnaround time, productivity, costs).
Use ERP or workshop management systems effectively.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred).
Trade Test Certificate (Electrician or similar) is advantageous.
5+ years' experience in electrical repairs or technical workshop environment.
2 - 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
Experience within an electrical wholesaler or similar industry is advantageous.
