Description


Initiate/manage research projects on molecular markers and other applications in fruit trees.
Write publications/present research outcomes to stakeholders and the scientific community.
Provide leadership and mentoring to Research Technicians, Assistants and Students.
Develop tools for molecular breeding and marker assisted selection in fruit trees.
Liaise with growers, industry technical officers and national and provincial government.


Requirements


PhD in Plant Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Genetics/Life Sciences.
Knowledge of molecular biology applications in plants.
Compile reports and make presentations.
Manage project budgets and allocate resources.
Mentor and supervise Research Technicians, Assistants and Students.
Registration with a scientific and professional body will be an advantage.
Advanced computer literacy.
Code EB driver's licence and ability to drive.
