Job Summary
The Sales Manager will work closely with the CEO and the sales to drive revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, and expand Synnefa's presence across Africa. This role involves leading Agricultural Consultants and Business Development interns, implementing effective sales processes, and ensuring pipeline and forecast accuracy. It's an exciting opportunity for a seasoned sales professional to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced, mission-driven ag-tech company transforming African agriculture.
Key Responsibilities
Achieve a monthly sales target of KES 5,000,000. This requires the installation of at least five solar dryers or greenhouses, each measuring 240 square meters, per month. These installations will be offered through our rent-to-own plan, designed to remove significant financial barriers for customers adopting our products and services.
You will own the sales pipeline, ensuring forecast accuracy and pipeline hygiene. This includes leading weekly reviews, coaching the sales team to meet targets, and refining the CRM by removing unqualified leads.
Supervise, coach, and manage Agricultural Consultants (field sellers) and Business Development Associates/Interns—set targets, run weekly 1:1s, conduct monthly performance reviews, ensure they are closing sales, and signing partnerships with enterprises that will bring in opportunities for revenue.
Drive enterprise & partnership sales (corporates, aggregators, input suppliers, MFIs) that unlock material revenue.
Coordinate closely with Finance and Accounts Lead on quotations, contracts, invoicing and collections to ensure timely cash collection.
Build and enforce sales SOPs and handoffs to Customer Support, and produce weekly commercial dashboards for the CEO.
Recruit, mentor, and expand the field sales and business development intern team, while also implementing processes and playbooks to improve conversion rates. Additionally, they will be required to use AI tools to develop learning and training content, develop the training content, train, and ensure they are up to speed.
Skills and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's deg ree in Business, Agribusiness, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, or a related field.
Experience: 3 - 6+ years of relevant experience with a proven track record in field and enterprise sales, including at least 1 - 2 years in a people management role.
Industry Background: Experience in A gritech, agriculture value chains, agri-inputs, banking, microfinance institutions (MFIs), or enterprise B2B sales to SMEs and agribusinesses.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in AI tools such as ChatGPT and NotebookLM
Skilled in CRM reporting and dashboard management.
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets capabilities for reporting and modeling.
Basic experience in contract and quotation drafting.
Proficient in Google Workspace tools.
Additional Requirements:
Comfortable with regular travel to farms and rural areas
Valid Kenyan driver's license preferred
Fluent in English; Kiswahili highly desirable.
Must be eligible to work in Kenya and able to operate effectively in field conditions.
