Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Representative to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving new business, expanding the existing customer base, identifying and converting new opportunities, and achieving sales and profitability targets within an assigned territory.
This role requires a strong sales professional who is confident in business development, customer engagement, negotiations and delivering solutions aligned with customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calling, canvassing, referrals and networking.
Achieve set sales, growth, market share and profitability targets within the assigned territory.
Identify and target competitor accounts and develop strategies to convert new business.
Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
Prepare and present quotations, proposals, sales presentations and tender documentation.
Negotiate pricing and terms while ensuring deals remain commercially viable.
Provide customers with product information, demonstrations, technical support and ongoing service.
Maintain accurate customer records and complete required sales and activity reports.
Manage the sales process from initial contact through to order placement and delivery.
Monitor market conditions, industry developments and competitor activity.
Conduct site visits and inspections where required.
Ensure all sales and administrative procedures are followed correctly.
Work closely with internal departments to ensure effective customer service and delivery.
Contribute to the development and implementation of sales strategies and initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve business performance and grow the department.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric.
Relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
Minimum 5 years' proven sales experience in the materials handling or a related industry.
Proven track record of achieving sales and new business targets.
Strong business development and account management experience.
Experience in identifying, targeting and converting new accounts.
Strong negotiation, presentation and customer relationship skills.
Good financial and numerical understanding.
Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and perform under pressure.
Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Valid Code 8 driver's licence.
Must be willing and able to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
Must be able to conduct site inspections and product demonstrations.
Advantageous
Experience working on the Kerridge system.
Experience within the materials handling industry.
